Background
Kiboga school of Nursing and Midwifery was founded in January, 2022 by Dr. Twesigye Patrick with the main aim of providing high-quality education to prepare nursing students for successful careers in the healthcare industry. This would be achieved through Fostering a culture of compassion, empathy, and patient-centered care, promoting academic excellence, innovation, and continuous learning and developing nursing leaders who can make a positive impact in their communities.
Kiboga school of Nursing and Midwifery’s motto is ‘SINGURA’ in the local Runyakitara dialect which means to overcome. The motto is aimed at pushing especially the rural youth to use every available opportunity or window of hope usher themselves to overcome (singura) existing obstacles in their lives. Rural life and communities like in Kiboga district and the surrounding districts mainly Bunyoro and Buganda Sub regions offer a number of obstacles/challenges as well as opportunities in various areas to the youth and people who live and grow up in these communities. It is common for many young people to concentrate and focus on the challenges existing ignoring the abundant opportunities within their vicinity.
We are committed to training nursing graduates who are equipped to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a rapidly changing healthcare environment which would help to address specific health challenges facing the Ugandan population, such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, or maternal-child health. In addition, through building partnerships with healthcare organizations and communities, we promote collaborative practice and improve health care access and outcomes particularly in rural or underserved areas.
